Psalm 16:7-11

“I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole beingrejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures ...

Blindspots

We live in the polling age. Should marijuana be legalized? Take a poll. Is abortion every woman's inalienable right? Take a poll. Is pre-marital sex wrong? Take a poll. But poll-taking is no barometer of right and wrong, only of popular opinion. The standard has been established on right and wrong, and it was set by God Himself. After Kathy had a chance to process her emotions I learned what was really bothering her. Through teary eyes, Kathy apologized and informed me she was missing her mother.

Kathy’s mother recently passed away and with her mother’s birthday app...

The Power Hungry

As a young banker I took a Dale Carnegie course on “Effective Public Speaking.” The first night we were asked to share whywe were taking this course.

One person who spoke was a newly appointed union president. Through clenched teeth, and with rising intensity, this man said, “I’m taking this class because when I speak to the members of my labor union I want them to fear me and to do exactly what I tell them!”...
